Planning Your Visit
Before You Arrive
Before your visit, please bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a current list of medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, supplements, and any recent changes. If your care team has asked you to bring outside imaging, lab results, or referral paperwork, please have those items available as well. If this is your first treatment visit, our team will review what to expect before, during, and after your appointment.
Parking and Valet
Arrival at the Barlow Building
Valet service is available at the building entrance during normal business hours, and parking is validated for United Theranostics patients. If valet is unavailable, you may still use the garage and should be able to park in the dedicated United Theranostics parking spaces, which should be clearly marked.
The building valet process is straightforward. Please follow these steps when you arrive:
Pull up to the valet entrance via the side street called “The Hills Plaza”
Most popular GPS maps will take you to this route by default.
Secure a ticket and leave your key in the vehicle
The valet team will ask you to leave your key in the ignition so that they can relocate it more easily.
Bring your ticket upstairs
You’ll need to bring your parking ticket with you to the clinic for validation.
Validate before you leave
If your visit extends beyond the validation period, pay at one of the machines outside the P3 elevator lobby using cash or a major credit card. Apple Pay is not currently accepted.

By Car
The Barlow Building’s parking garage is accessible via The Hills Plaza. This small street can be accessed via Willard Avenue, which runs adjacent to Wisconsin Avenue. The building is accessible to most popular rideshare apps; set your destination to 5454 Wisconsin Avenue.
By Metro
The Friendship Heights Metro Station (on the Red Line) is approximately one block away from the Barlow Building, an approximately 3-5 minute walk. When exiting the metro, use the Western Avenue/Military Road exit. Walk north on Wisconsin Avenue, and the Barlow Building will be on your right, set back slightly from the street. It has a plaza level with retail, including a café.

How early should I arrive for my appointment?
Please plan to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early so there is time for parking, check-in, and any paperwork needed before your visit.
Where do I check in once I'm in the building?
Take the elevator to Suite 1600 and check in at the United Theranostics front desk. Bring your ID, insurance card, and any parking validation ticket.
Is the facility wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The building entrance, elevators, and clinic space are designed to support patients using mobility aids. Call ahead if you need additional arrival assistance.
What if I'm running late?
Please call (301) 450-2588 as soon as possible so our care team can adjust your arrival plan.
Can a family member wait with me during treatment?
A caregiver or guest may usually accompany you to check-in and wait nearby. For treatment-specific safety rules, your care team will explain what is appropriate for that visit.
