Clarity at the Molecular Level
UniThera Medical Imaging, a division of United Theranostics, helps patients and referring physicians access advanced diagnostic imaging and molecular imaging in community practice.
Our imaging services support care across oncology and many other clinical needs, including infectious, inflammatory, cardiovascular, neurologic, endocrine, musculoskeletal, vascular, and general diagnostic evaluations.
About UniThera Medical Imaging
UniThera Medical Imaging is a division of United Theranostics, a national private practice focused on expanding meaningful access to radiopharmaceutical therapy and advanced imaging in community practice.
Our imaging team includes board-certified nuclear medicine physicians, diagnostic radiologists, experienced technologists, and clinical support staff who help referring providers access timely, accurate, and clinically meaningful diagnostic information.
For patients, the goal is a more convenient, supportive experience. For physicians, we provide diagnostic confidence, clear communication, and a trusted partner for advanced imaging needs.
SPECT/CT
SPECT/CT combines two different types of imaging that allow physicians to detect radioisotopes in the body, while also providing detailed images of the body itself. In other words, SPECT imaging (single-photon emission computed tomography) uses gamma rays to track radioisotopes that have been administered to a patient, which have often been attached to a molecule designed to bring that radioisotope to a specific type of tissue.
These maps become more powerful when combined with detailed 3D images of the patient’s body, helping physicians to better place where the radioisotopes are located. This is accomplished with CT (computerd tomography) imaging. Physicians often rely on this advanced imaging technology to:
- support oncologic, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, endocrine, infectious, and inflammatory evaluations
- help clarify findings that are difficult to characterize on conventional imaging alone
- quantify radiopharmaceutical distribution and support absorbed-dose calculations in radiopharmaceutical therapy
PET/CT
PET/CT combines molecular imaging with CT anatomy to help physicians understand both biological activity and location in one exam. While SPECT imaging detects single gamma rays emitted directly by a tracer, while PET detects pairs of gamma rays produced when a positron from an unstable tracer meets an electron. This means PET/CT scans are are the preferred tool for imaging certain tracers or indications. PET/CT scans can:
- support oncology evaluation, staging, response assessment, and recurrence monitoring
- aid in select neurologic, cardiovascular, infectious, and inflammatory evaluations
- help connect molecular information with anatomical detail
Diagnostic CT
Diagnostic CT uses X-rays and advanced computer processing to create detailed cross-sectional images of internal structures that computer algorithms to manipulate into a variety of useful forms, including 3D structures. Physicians refer patients to United Theranostics for CT/Scans to:
- support evaluation of the chest, abdomen, pelvis, brain, bones, soft tissues, and blood vessels
- support assessment of infection, vascular disease, trauma, and other abnormalities
- provide anatomical detail that can complement advanced molecular imaging
