Educational Background and Early Career
Dr. Ghesani earned his medical degree from Gujarat University, NHL Medical College in Ahmedabad, India, in 1984. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency in 1988 at the KM School of Postgraduate Medicine and Research, followed by a diagnostic ultrasound fellowship in 1989 at LG Hospital and KM School of Postgraduate Medicine and Research, also in Ahmedabad. Upon moving to the United States, Dr. Ghesani pursued an internal medicine residency at Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey, completed in 1993. He then undertook a nuclear medicine residency and fellowship at St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, finishing in 1996. Subsequently, he completed a radiology residency at the same institution.
Dr. Ghesani’s comprehensive medical training formed the foundation for a distinguished career in nuclear medicine. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including as System Chief of Nuclear Medicine for the Mount Sinai Health System and Associate Clinical Professor of Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His work has significantly contributed to the evolution of nuclear medicine, particularly in oncologic imaging and targeted radionuclide therapies. He is an active participant in multidisciplinary clinical conferences and works closely with the FDA to bring innovative radiotracers into clinical use.

In his academic role as Associate Clinical Professor of Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Dr. Ghesani has helped shape the educational and research landscape for radiology trainees. This authoritative work includes 176 clinical cases across three major domains: general nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology, and PET/CT imaging.
